Wow: The Giants of the Earth and the rather small Chickaree

The Chickaree or Douglas Squirrel is a character amongst the Big Tree or Giant Redwoods which are located in the Sierra Nevada, a mountain chain in eastern California. This is the setting for a revelatory story which has greater impact across the world than most of us think. In a heartfelt tale between a young (but rapidly growing) boy Greg and his new friend, the world, it's present and future look very uncertain and of course the original Giant Redwoods are very much in the centre of a rapidly changing environment. Can these two, Doug (the Chickaree) and Greg help towards the survival of the planet? A book aimed at older children and young adults. This book should also appeal to adults. It is richly illustrated by Shirley Hayes, a little known and talented artist, and also with photographs taken by Adrian in the High Sierras of California.
