Julia’s beloved younger brother is getting married, meaning she has to leave her hard-won New York City life behind for a week, and trade drag brunches for the strip malls and golf courses of Florida.

Since coming out as a trans woman a few years ago, her family have been supportive – seamlessly (well, almost) getting the hang of her new pronouns. I ve struggled to find romcoms with trans characters written by trans people previously, and Best Woman really hits that spot.

Funny, sharp, uncompromising and clever. I enjoyed the ambiguity of the characters and the refusal to sanitise their flaws. This is romance, but grimy, and I m here for it.
