Brilliant Activities for Reading Comprehension (3rd edition) is a 6-book series containing engaging, enjoyable texts and activities to help primary school children to develop their reading comprehension skills and foster a love of reading.

The passages gradually increase in difficulty as you progress through the book and through the series, encouraging children to develop their ability to read for meaning and use a range of strategies to engage with the text.

Throughout the series, pupils are exposed to a range of genres, from newspaper articles and descriptive reports, to plays, stories and poems. Over a third of the passages in the 3rd edition are new, including many non-fiction pieces linked to the history curriculum.

The questions for all the passages have been completely rewritten, to link more closely to the reading content domains and to ensure a mixture of short and long question types.

The extension activities provide teachers with open-ended questions to stimulate class and small group discussions, as well as creative activities and writing ideas, which will stretch more able pupils and make it easy to provide differentiation.

The books are ideal for helping children to develop higher order reading comprehension skills, ensuring that they will excel at SATs in Years 2 and 6 and at 11+ Comprehension Tests.
