Overview
There is consensus about the merits of Britain''s ''cult films'' but an odd silence around some ''stranger'' classics. OFFBEAT redresses this by exploring Britain''s obscurities and curiosities - from the late fifties leap in film production to the death of popular domestic cinema in the early eighties. Featuring essays, interviews and in-depth reviews, OFFBEAT is a guide through a host of cinematic trends and episodes, including: - ''Anti-swinging sixties'' films - CIA-funded British cartoons - The demise of the short as supporting feature. Now updated with more than 150 pages of new reviews and essays!
